Welcome to the 2010 Focal Press Monthly Photography Contest! Thanks to everyone who participated in 2009 – your support, feedback, and, most importantly, your amazing photographs, have inspired us each and every month.

Winners of the December 2009 contest will be notified by December 15th, and our final grand prize winner for 2009 will be chosen by the end of January.

We are very excited to announce that the Focal Press Monthly Photography Contest is now open to residents throughout the world!. For the full terms and conditions, the schedule of themes, and list of judges, visit the The Focal Press Monthly Photography Contest homepage .

Focus

The focus of the January contest is COLOR, sponsored by Painter 11 Creativity and Painter 11 for Photographers.

Judges

This month's guest judges for our First and Second place winners will be Painter 11 Creativity and Painter 11 for Photographersauthors Jeremy Sutton and Martin Addison.


Important note

First and Second place winners are chosen by the monthly guest judge. Third place winners will be chosen by popular vote. Third place winners are only eligible to win once in a four month period (Jan-Apr, May-Aug, Sept-Dec). First, Second and Third place monthly winners for Jan-June will be entered to win our First 2009 Grand Prize; monthly winners from July-Dec will be entered to win our Second 2009 Grand Prize. You may upload up to two different photographs per month, but you will not be eligible to win more than one prize per month. You can only vote once for each picture.

Pictures are checked by a moderator so will not appear immediately. Photos will be posted within 24-48 hours (may vary slightly on weekends and holidays) so please check back. If you have any questions or comments send Kate an e-mail
