In 2010, there will be some changes to the monthly photography contest, which we are very excited about! We will be posting these changes later this month -- visit the The Focal Press Monthly Photography Contest homepage for updates.

Focus

The focus of the December contest is BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG HOLIDAYS, sponsored by the Practical HDR, which is available in North America from Focal Press and Ilex Press outside of North America.

Judges

This month's guest judge for our First and Second place winners will be Practical HDR author David Nightingale .

Important note

In 2009, First and Second place winners will be chosen by the monthly guest judge. Third place winners and three honorable mentions will be chosen by popular vote. Third place winners are only eligible to win once in a four month period (Jan-Apr, May-Aug, Sept-Dec). First, Second and Third place monthly winners for Jan-April will be entered to win our First 2009 Grand Prize; monthly winners from May-Aug will be entered to win our Second 2009 Grand Prize; monthly winners from Sept-Dec will be entered to win our Third 2009 Grand Prize. You may upload up to two different photographs per month, but you will not be eligible to win more than one prize per month. You can only vote once for each picture.

Pictures are checked by a moderator so will not appear immediately. Photos will be posted within 24-48 hours (may vary slightly on weekends and holidays) so please check back. If you have any questions or comments send us an e-mail
